Sunie was referred to us from Hope Ministries and is now a resident at The Beacon Village, a NARR-certified recovery residence supported in part by the Iowa Finance Authority. Transitioning from Hope Ministries to the Village gave her the structure, accountability, and case management she needed to continue her recovery. Sunie describes feeling safe and supported, valuing the compassion of staff and fellow residents. Through the program, she is learning to maintain her home, stay employed, and focus on her faith while navigating a stage 4 cancer diagnosis. Her experience reflects how IFA-supported recovery housing can restore stability, purpose, and hope for individuals facing complex challenges.

The Beacon

The Iowa Finance Authority partners with organizations across the state to address housing instability and support Iowans most in need, including The Beacon.

The Beacon is a client-centered community that provides a safe and supportive living environment for adult women in central Iowa who have faced trauma and systemic inequity. These social factors often lead to substance use and involvement with the criminal justice system. The Beacon’s mission is to create a space where women can break this cycle and work toward more fulfilling, productive lives.
