Iowa's Early-Stage Internship Program

The Insure Your Future program provides an opportunity targeted at college freshmen and sophomores to gain experience in Iowa's insurance industry and ignite a path toward a rewarding career. Iowa's strong position in the financial services sector contributes to plentiful career prospects with upward mobility potential, and the salary is on average $42,000 higher than the non-insurance industry.

Through this program, students acquire real-world experience and see participating companies from multiple lenses. In addition, program interns will enjoy the chance to network together through a series of four leadership development events during the summer, hosted by various insurance companies. Participating Insure Your Future companies pay at least double the minimum wage and are now hiring interns for summer 2025.

The program began in 2023 and in the first two years, 30 insurance companies across the state came together to create 150 Insure Your Future internship opportunities. Insure Your Future is the first-of-its-kind early-stage internship program for the insurance industry. The program was developed through a collaborative partnership between the Iowa Economic Development Authority, the Iowa Insurance Division, Iowa's participating financial services companies and regional educational institutions. The program not only introduces the next generation of our workforce to rewarding careers, but also bolsters Iowa's talent pipeline.
