Technology is a thread woven through all of Iowa’s industries and initiatives. We recognize that maintaining and expanding the economic performance of Iowa's key industries depends on the ability to rapidly apply new technology and move new products and services to market. The state has put focused strategies in place to spur industry growth and cutting-edge tech, like financial assistance programs and investments in broadband and STEM education. Iowa’s key industries have increasingly adopted technology-driven solutions, like manufacturing’s Industry 4.0 initiative, transformative innovations in biosciences, and fintech and Insurtech.
Iowa has also seen huge strides in educational technology (edtech). Home to nationally recognized testing programs and a top-ranked K-12 public education system, Iowa’s long-standing commitment to educational excellence is well-known. And, with the growing role of digital technology in the classroom, Iowa’s edtech industry has emerged as a large, fast-growing, and impactful business sector. Iowa not only has a solid foundation of edtech companies specializing in publishing, content development and skills assessments, the state’s three public universities pioneered research programs dedicated to advancements in educational technology.
