Through financing provided by the Iowa Finance Authority’s State Revolving Fund (SRF), the City of Coralville was able to incorporate high-impact stormwater infrastructure into the Iowa River Landing Development. SRF support enabled the construction of new street infrastructure that uses road rights-of-way to manage stormwater through integrated planter boxes, capturing and treating runoff before it reaches nearby streams.

These practices significantly reduce stormwater pollutants, provide added flood protection, and improve water quality in the Iowa River watershed. Beyond their environmental benefits, the stormwater planters enhance the streetscape with attractive, green design—showcasing how SRF and IFA investments help communities deliver resilient infrastructure with lasting environmental and community-wide benefits.
