Kaylara is a former program participant and now a valued staff member at Friends of the Family. She came to us as a survivor of domestic violence, experiencing housing insecurity after fleeing an unsafe situation. Through Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) dollars distributed by the Iowa Finance Authority, Kaylara was able to secure safe, stable, and long-term housing.

Shortly after joining the program, she transitioned to self-pay and began working with Habitat for Humanity to build a home of her own. Today, Kaylara lives independently and works as a Housing Navigator at Friends of the Family, helping others find safe homes. We are grateful for Iowa Finance Authority’s role in her journey.
