As summer 2024 approached, Susan realized her central air wasn’t cooling her home. A local HVAC contractor recommended replacing her entire system, furnace and AC, and suggested the Regional Housing Trust Fund (RHTF) program, which he had referred other customers to over the years. Susan applied and received $11,200 to replace her system. She qualified for a 0% interest loan, repaid at just $100 per month through RHTF. Now, Susan enjoys a cool home in summer and warm comfort in winter, with the added benefit of lower utility bills, all made possible by the financial support and flexibility of the RHTF program.

Through the State Housing Trust Fund (SHTF), the Iowa Finance Authority partners with a network of Local Housing Trust Funds, including AHEAD Regional Housing Trust Fund to expand access to decent, safe, and affordable housing.
The mission of the AHEAD Regional Housing Trust Fund (RHTF) is to promote the creation and preservation of affordable housing for low-to-moderate income households in Davis, Jefferson, Keokuk, Mahaska, Van Buren and Wapello counties.
