Following our productive session in November, the Iowa DNR is continuing the methodical update of the Iowa Wastewater Facilities Design Standards (IWFDS). In priority order, established by our stakeholder group last June, we are now ready to present the next set of chapters for your review and feedback.
Discussion Details:
- What: Technical Overview and Facilitated Discussion on Chapter 7: Sludge Handling and Disposal
- When: June 11, 2026, from 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM Central Time
- Where: Virtual via Zoom (information below)
The Process:
Consistent with our previous session, this meeting will be a collaborative opportunity. We will begin with a technical overview of how the team has aligned the rule’s text and data to improve clarity and flexibility. Following the overview, we will transition into breakout rooms. The breakout rooms will be facilitated to ensure an effective discussion where you can provide detailed thoughts and identify opportunities for additional changes to Chapter 7.
How to Prepare:
A draft mark-up of the chapters under review will be provided to all registered participants and on our website at least one week prior to the meeting. We encourage you to review these documents and participate in a virtual discussion to provide your input, feedback and suggestions.
Please register by June 5, 2026, at the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/0LvThxuHRderyjLeoHHM0g
Registering helps the Department accurately plan and secure enough facilitators for the small group breakout discussions, ensuring a productive meeting for all attendees.
If you are unable to attend the virtual discussion but wish to provide feedback on the draft changes, please forward your comments by the end of the day on June 11th to: iwfds@dnr.iowa.gov
We value your continued partnership as we move through this prioritized update process. We look forward to your insights on June 11th.
