Mexico Grain and Feed Update
Mexico’s corn production is forecast to decline in marketing year (MY) 2026/27 as higher input costs and low domestic prices weigh on planting decisions. Corn, wheat and rice imports are expected to increase as domestic output remains insufficient to meet demand, whereas sorghum imports are expected to fall on higher domestic production. The U.S. is expected to remain the main source of Mexican grain and feed imports.

Infrastructure Challenges in Brazil’s Agricultural Sector

India: Monsoon Advances Amid Emerging El Nino Concerns
India’s 2026 kharif season has begun under mixed conditions. The southwest monsoon reached Kerala on June 4 and continues to advance across the country. Reservoir levels remain above the 10-year average, supporting crop prospects. However, the Indian Meteorological Department forecasts seasonal rainfall at 90% of the long-period average, with an 84% probability of below-normal or deficient rainfall as El Niño conditions develop. As of June 15, cumulative rainfall was 32% below normal, while kharif sowing lagged last year’s pace by 3%. Severe April–May heatwaves increased crop water demand and heat stress risks, particularly in northern and central India.
Philippines Grain and Feed Update
USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) in Manila lowers its milled rice and corn production forecasts for MY 2026/27, driven by rising input costs, lower dam water levels and weak planting intentions. Corn imports and consumption are forecast to increase in MY 2026/27, driven primarily by continued growth in the feed sector, while ending stocks decline as consumption outpaces production and import gains.
