Loan servicers will play a critical role in providing assistance through the Iowa Homeowner Assistance Fund (IHAF) to Iowa homeowners at-risk of foreclosure.
Required Mortgage Servicer Steps to Participate in the IHAF
- Review the Iowa HAF program eligibility and assistance criteria.
- Review the program term sheet.
- Review, sign and submit the Servicer Collaboration Agreement and submit the Servicer Contact Form to ServicerCoordination@IowaFinance.com.
- Upon receipt of the signed Collaboration Agreement, the Iowa HAF Servicer Team will email a link to an online training webinar to the primary contact designated in the agreement.
- Submit required payment information through the portal. Please remember to upload your W-9.
- Add at least two contacts to the portal.
- Gather a list of Iowa borrowers that are delinquent by at least one payment.
- Send outreach email to delinquent Iowa borrowers with instructions on how to apply for assistance (sample email included in servicer toolkit).
Sub-Servicers
If youβre a sub-servicer or servicer for others, please email ServicerCoordination@IowaFinance.com for further instruction to make sure your initial set-up is correct. Sub-servicers will be asked to provide a current list of clients.
Third Party Providers
County Treasurers, land contract owners, manufactured home consumer lenders, manufactured home park owners, homeowner associations and insurance companies must agree to participate in the program prior to assistance being awarded on behalf of homeowners. These third parties must review, complete and submit a participation agreement.
